Terry Bond's Testimonial
A very dramatic trip to the hospital ER changed Terry's life forever. For seven days, he was treated for vascular disease and diabetes due to his extreme weight at 317 pounds. He almost lost a leg. Several doctors recommended LivLite weight loss surgery to get his weight under control and prevent losing a limb. His family history includes loss of legs due to diabetes caused by obesity. He realized, "I'm down the same road in a couple of years if I don't do something."
Terry recalls: "I went to one of the LivLite informational seminars and felt Dr. Burry was the best person for the job." He did all the necessary pre-op educational steps and felt everything was going the right way. In March of 2004, he had gastric bypass surgery and, now, a year later, he has reached his goal weight of 188 pounds. "I had no complications. I've had no problem at all adapting to the program and new diet. I don't overeat. Dr. Burry explained that my stomach would be the size of a boiled egg and it would be like stuffing an Easter egg." He admired Dr. Burry's dedication. "I respect the doctor. He told me he goes into every surgery scared like it's his first. You don't want someone who thinks they have so much experience and there's nothing to worry about. He's an excellent choice for a doctor. LivLite should be proud."
Before surgery, Terry reports: "I couldn't walk around the block. I had sleep apnea, high blood pressure, diabetes and stomach ulcers from 25 pills a day and acid reflux. I was tired all the time." He also suffered from low self-esteem and depression. Today, he has a new release on life. His pre-op conditions were eliminated and he's down to only a couple of pills a day. "I have all kinds of energy now. I can play soccer, basketball, ride bikes. Every day is better than the last. It's the best thing I ever did. I feel like I'm a teenager again!" Terry faithfully attends the support group meetings and appreciates the support from his wife and family. "My heart bleeds for obese people. I'll help them through it all. I'm proud to say I've had the surgery." He would have had the surgery much sooner he says, "If I had known what could have been done." With great zeal he adds: "There is help out there."
