  9. Is Our Program Right for You?

  10. The first step is to determine whether our program is right for you. Our program is designed for people who are severely overweight or have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or greater. In some cases, you may qualify with a BMI over 35 if you experience co-morbid conditions such as diabetes, sleep apnea or hypertension. The best way to determine whether you qualify for surgery is to speak with one of our program guides.

  11. The Decision to Have Surgery

  12. After you learn about our program, the actual procedure, and have met with the program surgeon, you can decide whether our program is right for you. Our program guides and surgeons are available to answer any questions you may have before you make your decision.

  • Preoperative Consultations and Seminars
As an essential part of your pre-approval for surgery you will complete preoperative consultations and undergo testing with dietitians, psychologists, and other healthcare providers to qualify you for the surgery. Your LivLite Bariatric program guide will closely assist you throughout the entire process.

  • Payment Methodology

  • We have experts to work with you and your health insurance company to apply for the procedure. We will act as your advocate to help your insurance company to recognize severe obesity as a medical condition and approve your surgery.

  • The Surgery

  • The surgery itself takes between one to three hours depending on the procedure. Your hospital stay will last one to four days, again depending on the procedure. During your time in the hospital, you will receive information about your post surgical care and diet after you have recovered from surgery.

  • Recovery

  • After discharge, your recovery will continue at home. Depending on your condition, which procedure you undergo, and the type of work you do it could take up to six weeks before you are able to return to work. Your physician will help you to make this decision.

  • Support

  • Post-operatively, we encourage you to make several visits so that we can monitor your progress. We also offer monthly group support meetings to discuss any issues you may have, encourage you in your weight loss, and help you maintain it. Our quarterly newsletters offer more support to all our patients.
